Steve Cropper, Group MD, is considered by some to be somewhat unusual in the commercial printing industry for welcoming females into senior roles in Gemini Print Group. He is happy to see the improving gender balance in his business – recognising that there are gains in communications, approaches to customer service, enhanced business focus, and the breadth of creativity and innovation.
Therefore, he and all his Gemini colleagues are delighted to be notified that Julie Beard has achieved a FINALIST shortlist position in the Sussex Region Business Women Excellence Awards 2017.
The Gemini Print Group have also been shortlisted for Large Company of the Year, and for Community Contribution of the Year – maintaining the ‘triple success’ with our recent award entries.
Julie Beard is respected throughout the South for being one of the ‘great names in quality commercial printing.’ Her grandfather established G.Beard & Son in 1952 in Gloucester Road, Brighton with her grandmother Ivy. After her father Dennis completed his National Service in 1952, he joined the printing business. Julie attended Brighton & Hove High School followed by university achievements with a First degree in Medical Physics followed by a Masters in Radiation Physics. Her academic success led to a globe-trotting senior career with the Ministry of Defence.
On her return to Brighton Julie worked in the family business until the point that she took over from her father. The legacy of innovation and advanced printing skills was firmly in place. Dennis Beard had recognised the birth of Digital Printing ‘ahead of the crowd, ’ and his success led to a merger with Gemini in 2007.
As a Board Director of The Gemini Print Group, Julie now enhances the business with her calm, intelligent approach (we think the yoga helps!), her knowledge and depth of experience, and exceptional longevity of client relationships of more than 20 years.
Congratulations to Julie. All your colleagues at Gemini Print agree that this is well-deserved recognition!
