GEMINI PRINT GROUP’S LATEST INVESTMENT

The Gemini Print Group invests in the latest Kodak Sonora Process Free-Plates for our Litho printing presses across the entire group and also a whole host of workflow production tools for our Kodak Prinergy Systems.

Kodak Sonora Process-Free plates eliminate all plate chemistry and help to keep all toxic wastage at Gemini to a minimum. Gemini have also been awarded with Kodak’s Green Leaf Award Certificate for continuing to support the local environment.

How will this benefit you?

You can be confident that when placing orders with Gemini that the work will be produced with the lowest impact on the environment in mind and a continued drive towards sustainability.

The software update includes Kodak Prinergy Workflow ‘where control meets freedom’ this high tech software ensures colour consistency and accuracy is monitored throughout the production of each job. The software is customised to the way Gemini works best, this flexibility means Gemini are very much in control of the end product and not reliant on one process like many presses.

The Kodak Insite Prepress Portal updates means faster turnaround times for you. Available 24/7 this portal allows you access anytime from any place and connects you interactively to your proofing files. In time FTP logins will gradually fade out for digital printing and the new system linked with Insite will be integrated into the workflow. Digital proofing will now be of a higher standard with accurate colours for online proofing (varied dependant on viewing device). If any problems arise with Insite please do not worry as the system is checking automatically for problems which will be flagged up so corrections can be made quickly.

Connectivity upgrades to Kodak Magnus 800 CTP devices includes unique Square spot imaging technology that produces a cleaner and crisper image onto the Sonora printing plates. Click here to have a look at the video below to see how the plates work in action.

If you would like to know more about the recent Kodak updates, please call us today on 01273 464 884 or email info@gemini-print.co.uk we look forward to working with you.

Duplo Booklet System Expands Gemini’s Digital Print Offering

Gemini has purchased a Duplo 350C Booklet System to expand our growing digital offering. Installation starts (5th August 2016) at our Bristol branch Gemini West.

The Duplo 350C Booklet System will provide Gemini with further capacity and automation for finishing, which, as a result, will free up man hours and reduce our wastage. It marries the DSC-10/20 Collator with the DBM-350 Bookletmaker and trimmer to create a cost-effective mid-range bookletmaking system with a compact suction collator, ideal for a wide range of applications.

Steve Cropper, Managing Director of Gemini Print Group, said: “We were most impressed by live demonstrations at drupa and are proud to have signed this deal with Duplo, which is a world respected print finishing company. This is part of a £2million investment over the past five years, which has also included a Kodak Nexpress 2500, as well as a Muller Martini stitching line and Heidelberg printing and folding systems. The Duplo 350C Booklet System is going to play a key role in expanding our digital offering.”

Peter Jolly, Duplo UK Managing Director, said: “Gemini Print clearly sees the benefits of investing in a bookletmaker that will free up a lot of time and improve wastage levels. It’s another example of how companies are increasingly turning to Duplo systems to enable their businesses to drive forward in smarter, faster and better ways of working.”

Gemini’s ‘Best Design for Print’ 2016 award winner!

Gemini has been a proud print sponsor to the Brighton Fringe for the third year running in 2016. Being the official print sponsor enables Gemini to interact with the local community and to give something back to help the growth of performing Arts in our City. The Brighton Fringe have been at the forefront of championing Arts & performance in our area for a number of years and aside from the many incredible acts on view the benefit of the Festival to our City’s economy is fantastic, with hundreds of thousands of visitors in May & June.

Tommy, The Queer Historian.

My debut show, Homophobe, started out as a simple piece of theatre with the goal of looking homophobia square in the eyes and trying to work out if people can change their homophobic viewpoints. The piece grew into the monster of the show that I performed on the 4th and 5th of June as part of Brighton Fringe. The show ended up offering a much deeper look into one man’s journey (my own!) of homophobia I faced as a teen, interspersed with performance, magic, cabaret and the first ever showing of Homophobe was well received by the audience and arts industry.

To win the award for Best Design for Print means the world to me. It was important for us to show that words, no matter how small, have results and the consequences of homophobia can be brutal. We wanted to have a poster that would catch people’s eyes but also show the deeper side of the project.

I couldn’t have done this without the amazing work from my team. From my producer, Emily, for supporting my decision on a hard hitting poster to my film director, Stephen, for offering his amazing eye on the poster. To My Name is Ad for the graphic design, Matt Oliver, our photographer, and Roz Gomersall for the amazing make-up.

Now the pressure is on for next year’s Brighton Fringe but we already have some exciting plans for a show called ‘3,597’. Watch this space!
